GCB Bank has regained its position as Ghana’s largest bank by deposit market share, overtaking Ecobank Ghana in 2025, according to the PwC Ghana Banking Survey 2026.
The latest banking industry data shows that GCB strengthened its position despite increased competition among banks and significant growth in total deposits across Ghana’s financial sector.

Ghana Banking Industry Deposits Rise 25%
The change in market leadership occurred amid strong growth in deposits across Ghana’s banking sector.
Total industry deposits increased by 25% in 2025, rising from GH¢266.5 billion to approximately GH¢334.3 billion.
The growth was supported by improving macroeconomic conditions, increased customer confidence in the banking sector and the continued expansion of digital banking and agency banking services.
The latest figures point to stronger mobilisation of funds by banks as customers increasingly use formal financial institutions for savings, transactions and other banking services.
