Under the topic “Resetting Ghana: The Diaspora as the 17th Region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the Media Launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025, which is set for December 19 and 20, 2025, in cooperation with its stakeholders.

Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, spoke at the ceremony and assured the Diaspora community that their investments in Ghana were secure.

In addition to highlighting the government’s resolve to create an atmosphere that supports economic growth, she emphasized that the Summit would go beyond discussion to produce measurable results in innovation, education, and enterprise.

In his remarks, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the government’s dedication to strengthening ties with the diaspora and utilizing the resources, expertise, and abilities to hasten national progress.

The Summit is anticipated to offer prospects for commerce, investment, tourism, and entrepreneurship in addition to high-level policy discussions and business-to-business networking, he added, acknowledging the Diaspora’s role in growth.

The Minister added that a special reparations conference would be a part of the Summit and emphasized the government’s role in furthering the African reparations agenda.

The director of the Diaspora Affairs Office, Mr. Kofi Okyere Darko, stated that the diaspora’s contributions went beyond remittances and included, among other things, professional knowledge, creative entrepreneurship, and international advocacy.

It is anticipated that the Summit would draw attendees from all over the world and establish Ghana as a focal point for investment and diaspora participation on the continent.
