The old Osu Castle will be transformed into a presidential and governance museum, according to plans presented by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, made this announcement on August 13, 2023, in Accra at an Editor’s forum intended to reorganize media support for the industry.

The museum will honor Ghana’s former presidents by remembering their contributions to the country’s advancement and providing a thorough understanding of its political development.

According to Dr. Mohammed, “this effort is a crucial component of our ministry’s ongoing commitment to create a physical space that honors and remembers the legacy of Ghana’s distinguished presidents.”

He emphasized the ministry’s overarching goal of fostering a national appreciation for history.

He announced, “We have ambitious plans to build new museums across the nation.”

Notably, he said, “we will soon start building a “heroes park” honoring the revered big six.”

The tourism minister added that over the course of the next year, “modernization initiatives are on the horizon for prominent locations such as the Danquah circle, Busia circle at 37, and more across regions like Saltpond, Tamale, and Kyebi.”
