President John Dramani Mahama returned home after meeting with Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a one-day working visit to Abuja, Nigeria.
President Tinubu attended his inauguration as the Special Guest of Honor, and President Mahama sincerely thanked him for his attendance. As per Mr. Mahama, this gesture underscored the close ties between the two nations and the significance Nigeria places on its relationship with Ghana.
The two leaders also talked about enhancing economic cooperation and integration by fortifying the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
They emphasized the need for greater cooperation within the subregion in order to successfully counter the growing threat of violent extremism and terrorism that the area is facing.
During the talks, President Mahama gave President Tinubu, the current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, an update on his recent meetings with the presidents of Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali.
