As part of efforts to activate President John Mahama’s Nkokɔ Nketenkete agenda, the National Service Authority (NSA) Director-General, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, has instructed Hon. Fuseini Donkor, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations, to supervise the Authority’s Papao Farms’ general operations.
It is anticipated that the program, which aims to improve the poultry business and provide job opportunities for young people, will greatly increase agricultural productivity and assist those who raise chicken.
Profitable Venture
Citing his extensive experience as the former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere Afram Plains in the Eastern Region, Mr. Felix Gyamfi voiced his high faith in Hon. Donkor’s abilities to turn the NSA’s farms into lucrative endeavors.
He asserts that Hon. Fuseini Donkor has the experience and leadership needed to produce significant income from the Authority’s agricultural initiatives.
During a discussion with stakeholders regarding plans to establish the Papao farms as the nation’s and the world’s leading hub for chicken products, the Director-General made this statement.
Collective Approach
Mr. Felix Gyamfi emphasized that in order to guarantee the poultry farm’s success, a team effort is required.
He emphasized that the NSA can generate Internally Generated Funds (IGFs) to sustain its activities by fostering agricultural initiatives through its strategic location.

“The NSA stands in a better position to leverage agricultural activities to create wealth and support national development. I know that by focusing on poultry production, we can tap into the growing demand for poultry products while providing sustainable employment for the youth,” he stated.
Hon. Fuseini Donkor, who has assumed responsibility for overseeing Papao Farms’ operations, reaffirmed his steadfast dedication to the Nkokɔ Nketenkete initiative’s success.
He examined ongoing chicken building at the Accra farm site, which is a component of a larger 300,000-capacity poultry project, while wearing military uniforms.
The program, a strategic alliance between the MasterCard Foundation and the NSA, aims to boost domestic productivity and chicken production.
Hon. Fuseini Donkor emphasized the growing need for poultry products in Ghana, especially in urban areas, while addressing a meeting with farm managers and laborers.
Jobs
“In Ghana, the majority of households consume poultry products. As such, this partnership with the MasterCard Foundation will not only enhance poultry production but also create jobs and empower the youth. I am fully committed to ensuring the success of this initiative,” he assured.
Additionally, the Deputy Director-General for Operations revealed that the Nkokɔ Nketenkete agenda would be extended beyond Accra to other districts and regions throughout the nation.
“The initiative has come to stay. After Papao, we intend to expand to other regions and districts, ensuring that more young people benefit from this employment and agribusiness opportunity,” he added.
As part of measures to improve the welfare of National Service Personnel (NSP), Hon. Fuseini Donkor explained an upcoming free egg programme aimed at boosting their nutrition and morale. “There is a need to make the national service experience rewarding.
We will introduce the free egg programme for all NSP, which will not only improve their nutrition but also boost their confidence and productivity during their service year,” he noted.
He stated that in addition to raising chickens, the NSA plans to use Papao Farms as a teaching and research facility for students studying agriculture.
He claims that this will offer a venue for experiential education and real-world training, eventually increasing industry competence.

Abdul Razak Sania, an agribusiness consultant, emphasized the significance of establishing a favorable environment for chicken farming in order to guarantee optimal productivity and profitability.
He emphasized that the project might have a major positive economic impact on the nation under the correct circumstances.
Other partners, in the meantime, have indicated that they are willing to help the NSA diversify its agricultural endeavors beyond chicken.
Plans are in place to expand the job and business prospects available to young Ghanaians by introducing fish farming, piggery, rabbitry, and grasscutter raising.
