Seven people have been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command on suspicion of taking part in a string of thefts in Ashaiman Sakasaka Park and Dagomba Junction in the Greater Accra Region.
A group of young individuals allegedly used weapons to attack victims at the places before stealing a number of costly items, according to a news release issued on Tuesday, June 24.
An iPhone 12 Pro Max, a Samsung A03 Core, a backpack with a Dell laptop and charger, cash, a power bank, and an Infinix Hot 40i smartphone were among the items taken.
Following their swift response to the scene, the police detained two individuals, named as Jonathan Osabutey and Moses Kwame Helu, with the help of onlookers.
Additional suspects were apprehended as a result of intelligence-led operations that followed. The Dell laptop with its charger and the stolen backpack were found in the possession of Robert Amekudzi and a minor, whose name has been concealed, by the police.
Bernard Dzumador and another unidentified young person were later taken into custody by the police after they were discovered in possession of the stolen Samsung A03 Core and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
As they cooperate with continuing investigations, the seven suspects are presently being held by the police. The people will shortly face charges and appear in court, according to authorities.
