Francis-Xavier Sosu, a member of parliament (MP) representing Madina, has apologized to Ghanaians for remarks he made at the Minority Caucus’ #OccupyBoG protest yesterday, Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
The goal of the demonstration was to put pressure on Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, and his two deputy governors to step down after the bank posted a GH60.81 billion deficit in 2022 yet spent $250 million building a new headquarters.
During a media interview, the MP spoke in terms that could not be printed.
As a result of how differently Ghanaians have responded to Mr. Sosu’s remarks, they are now doubting the MPs’ character.
On the night of the protest, Mr. Sosu apologized profusely for his comments when appearing on Accra-based XYZ TV.
“First and foremost, I truly apologize to anyone who was hurt by my words on that tape and accept full responsibility for my actions. The Madina MP begged, “Please find it in your heart to forgive me.”
The lawmaker stated, “That was obviously out of character. This is not the ordinary Sosu you may encounter.
