Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is the head of the newly established Armed Forces Council, which was inaugurated by President John Dramani Mahama.

In order to keep the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) prepared to protect national security, the council is tasked with offering strategic advice on defense strategy, military administration, and operational readiness.

The recently established seven-member council consists of:

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang – Chairperson

Edward Kofi Omane Boamah – Member

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Member

Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka – Member

Mr. Daniel Addo – Member

Mr. Fuseini Iddrisu – Member

Ms. Nancy Dakwa Ampofo – Member

It is anticipated that the council, led by the vice president, will give top priority to national security policies, personnel welfare, and military modernization.

In order to make sure the Ghanaian Armed Forces are prepared to handle new security threats, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering them through strategic reforms.
