Parliament has passed the Ghana Deposit Protection (Amendment) Bill 2025, which amends the existing Act 931.

The Ghana Deposit Protection Act 2019 (Act 931) needs to be amended in order to increase the Deposit Protection Scheme’s relevance to Ghana’s financial safety net by strengthening the Corporation’s mandate and functions, according to Deputy Minister of Finance Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, who made the motion for the second reading on the House floor.

The Bill’s goal is to amend the Ghana Deposit Protection Act, 2016 (Act 931) so that the Ghana Deposit Protection Corporation can better accomplish the goal of safeguarding deposits against loss due to occupancy of an insured event while also adhering to global best practices.
