The Ghana Police Service has categorically refuted charges of paper leakage and bribery in a recent Police Promotion Examination, calling the assertions untrue, unjustified, and without merit.
In a press release signed by Director-General of Public Affairs and Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Service stated that it had seen an article by The Herald newspaper making the accusations and wanted to correct the record.
According to the statement, “The Service wishes to categorically state that these allegations are baseless and without merit.”
The University of Cape Coast, which it defined as having a solid reputation, a track record of success, and acknowledged honesty in conducting such exams, administered the promotion exam in question, according to the Police Service.
The statement further advised the public to completely ignore the accusations, saying that the Police Service takes them seriously.
