The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP, has asked Dr. Korku Awoonor, the Technical Advisor to the Ministry, to form a technical working group to conduct a full audit of all health institutions in the Oti Region.

The audit will analyse these institutions’ structural integrity, operating capacity, and overall productivity in order to improve service delivery and ensure patient safety.

The directive was issued during the Ministry of Health’s two-day management retreat and is part of the government’s overall strategy to improve oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public health facilities across the country consistently meet approved safety, quality, and performance standards.

The Health Minister has also mandated the implementation of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country as part of complementing steps to improve the standard of treatment and patient experience.

Enhancing cleanliness standards, bolstering infection prevention and control, and establishing safer, more patient-friendly healthcare settings are the goals of this intervention.

Together, these programs reflect the Ministry’s dedication to improving health sector standards through proactive oversight, better facility management, and ongoing investments in high-quality healthcare delivery.
