Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, has defended the recent search on Dr. Ernest Addison’s residence, the former governor of the Bank of Ghana, claiming that it was carried out legally.

His comments come after claims that National Security agents raided Dr. Addison’s home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Journalist Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah was allegedly detained and then freed that same day.

Furthermore, security guards allegedly searched former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s home on February 11, 2025.

The Minority has denounced these occurrences as politically motivated and strongly condemned them.

Srem-Sai accepted responsibility for the raid and stressed that it was conducted with the appropriate legal authorization in an interview with reporters in Accra on Thursday, March 20.

“We accept accountability for the search that was conducted. We would like to clarify that those searches, as well as the manner in which they were conducted, were legal. He said, “Warrants were obtained and used.”

His remarks coincide with mounting worries about the way security operations against former government officials are being carried out.
