Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, had a courtesy call from a Mastercard Foundation delegation headed by Madam Rica Rwigamba, Ghana’s Country Director.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential areas of strategic cooperation and to fortify current relationships.
A global organization with a significant presence in Ghana, the Mastercard Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people—especially women—through education, skill development, and support for entrepreneurship.

Its programs are centered on empowering the upcoming generation of African leaders, advancing financial inclusion, and decreasing poverty.
Madam Rwigamba reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to collaborating closely with the Ministry to remove structural obstacles that impede the advancement of women and young people during the visit.
She indicated interest in collaborating with the Ministry to provide co-creation modules to young people and female entrepreneurs.
She also outlined intentions to work together to identify and assist children who are at risk, particularly those from low-income families, through the Foundation’s scholarship programs.
The topics of poverty reduction techniques, encouraging financial inclusion, particularly among women in rural areas, and providing affordable funding for gender-related education were also discussed.
One of the main topics of discussion was the necessity of expanding African women’s prospects and assisting with their economic development.
Honorable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey praised the Mastercard Foundation for its outstanding work in Ghana and throughout Africa, particularly in empowering young people and establishing avenues for sustainable livelihoods.
She stressed that in order to increase capacity and advance women’s economic empowerment across the country, the Ministry is actively collaborating with partners and institutions.
She pointed to the government’s Women’s Development Bank program as an obvious illustration of its attempts to give women the resources and networks of support they need to succeed.
As instructed by the President, the minister further mentioned that the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) initiative is now being expanded to cover additional underprivileged groups and vulnerable women.

No eligible individual will be left behind thanks to the present LEAP reassessment.
The Minister concluded by reaffirming the Ministry’s complete commitment to strengthening partnership with the Mastercard Foundation in order to carry out focused livelihood and entrepreneurial projects that enhance the lives of women, young people, and people with disabilities throughout Ghana.
Madam Francisca Atuluk, the Director of Social Protection, and Dr. Afisah Zakariah, the Chief Director of the Ministry, were also in attendance.
