The Presidential Special Envoy on Reparations, Ambassador Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, and his delegation met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on Friday, April 10, 2026, in order to strategically advance the global reparatory justice agenda.

The forum examined current initiatives in the wake of the historic United Nations General Assembly Resolution on Reparations and concentrated on maintaining global momentum, enhancing coordination, and uniting support for justice for Africans and people of African origin.

The Minister highlighted that the reparations agenda is still a long-term project needing consistent diplomacy, unity, and strategic partnerships, even if recent global events indicate tremendous progress.

He reiterated Ghana’s commitment to pursuing justice, reparation, and equity through participatory and transparent processes and emphasised the significance of preserving a broad-based coalition across regions.

The significance of strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the Office of the Presidential Special Envoy on Reparations was emphasised by both parties, especially in the domains of diplomacy, international outreach, and policy alignment.
