The corridors of Parliament were filled with a calm sense of purpose as a courtesy visit unfolded. His Lordship, Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, respectfully asked the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to give a compelling vision for the future of justice in our country, yesterday morning.
In his welcome comments, Speaker Bagbin stated that his visit was historic and called for collaboration between the two branches of government in consolidating Ghana’s democracy.
During their discussion, the CJ outlined specific steps to strengthen the system, including expanding access to justice for all, implementing a shift system for court operations to reduce delays, and establishing specialised courts to address illegal mining and related infractions identified by the Public Accounts Committee.

Additionally, he emphasised changes in legal education, focussing on instruction that adapts to changing demands and technological advancements.
In order to make these goals a reality, he advocated for practical assistance that goes beyond legislation, such as safe office space for the judiciary, improved security for judicial staff, and expedited clearance to hire more employees and specialists.
Mutual respect and a common dedication to service characterised the interaction. As they separated, it was evident that progress depends on careful discussion, focused reforms, and the guts to fund organisations that protect justice for all citizens.
