Three individuals were given a total of 20 months in prison by the Kasoa-Ofaakor District Magistrate Court for their participation in examination fraud during the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Samuel Armah, a teacher at Ghana College SHS, and Kwame Oteng Nkansah and Amedeka James, two university students, are among the prisoners.
They were arrested for a number of exam-related offenses in Kasoa.
While working as an invigilator, Armah was discovered dictating to candidates the Social Studies Paper 1 answers that had been leaked from his cell phone.
He received an eight-month prison sentence and an 80 penalty unit fine.
After posing as Quayson Francis Atta of Ghana College SHS, Nkansah, a Level 100 student at Accra Technical University, received a six-month jail sentence and an 80 penalty unit fine.
James, a University of Ghana Level 100 student, was given the same punishment for pretending to be his twin brother, Amedeka Justice, on the same paper.
Seth Sabah Sewornoo-Banini, the Chief Executive of the Awutu Senya East Municipality, observed shortcomings in the seating arrangements for candidates during a tour of one of the testing locations and promised to implement additional steps to stop future violations.
