The Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that, in addition to our previous press release from Thursday, May 15, 2025, the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NPHRL) has confirmed two (2) more cases of Mpox, one (1) in the Greater Accra Region and one (1) in the Western Region. As of today, May 18, 2025, there are now four (4) confirmed cases of Mpox.
To stop the virus from spreading further, the corresponding Regional Health Directorates have swiftly implemented contact tracing and other public health measures. Rash, fever, headache, back discomfort, muscular aches, low energy, and enlarged lymph nodes are typical symptoms.
The general populace is highly encouraged to:
• Practice regular hand hygiene,
• Avoid close contact with individuals exhibiting symptoms such as rashes.
• Report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility immediately.

The Ghanaian government is still dedicated to protecting the public’s health.
We will keep putting the right policies in place to safeguard the health and welfare of every person, building on our expertise controlling epidemics of this kind.
