The Greater Accra Region’s Girls-In-ICT program training centres have been visited by the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
The Minister visited training centres in the Ayawaso Central, Ga North, Ablekuma West, Ablekuma North, and the Weija-Gbawe constituencies in the Greater Accra Region, accompanied by a few Ministry representatives and representatives from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (KACE).
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful conveyed her happiness with the training.
“I am quite pleased with the quality of instructions provided by the facilitators and the remarkable passion displayed by the young ladies in their pursuit of knowledge.
These young ladies are able to create websites and games in just one week of lessons, which is very remarkable.” she reiterated
She urged the young females to seize the worldwide opportunities that information and communication technology presents.
She suggested that the young females might use ICT to develop jobs for themselves and become competitive in the labor market, just like their male counterparts.
The government’s effort to close the gender gap in information and communication technology (ICT) in the nation includes the Girls-in-ICT program.
Under the program, some 1000 elementary school girls in the Greater Accra Region are receiving basic ICT training.
