Key dates for Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools nationwide are listed in the authorized academic calendar for the 2025–2026 school year, which was announced by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
According to a press release issued by GES Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, the calendar shows three terms with distinct vacation, closing, and reopening dates.
September 2, 2025 is the start date of the first term, which will conclude on December 18, 2025. From December 19, 2025, to January 7, 2026, there will be a vacation. The dates of the two-day midterm break are set for October 31–November 3, 2025.
Beginning on January 8, 2026, and ending on April 1, 2026, the second term will include a vacation period from April 2 to April 20, 2026.
The third term, which runs from April 21, 2026, to July 23, 2026, is followed by the last break of the academic year.
Notably, May 4–May 11, 2026, has been set aside for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
A two-day midterm break will be introduced in each term, and the GES emphasized that all public holidays must be honored during the academic year.
The statement also recognized the efforts of parents, students, teachers, and school administrators in making the 2024–2025 academic year, which ends on July 24, 2025, a success.
For a seamless and successful academic year, the GES asked all parties involved to pay attention to the timetable and make the necessary preparations.
