Gender Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthened Civil Society Partnerships.

Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment through her Ministry to support programs that strengthen local organizations, encourage creativity, and promote community-led development.

In her role as the Guest of Honour, the Minister made this statement during the regional gathering of the “Shifting the Power” Program on Monday, December 1, 2025, when she formally introduced the “Civil Society Strengthening Programme (CSSP) Strategy.”

The event, hosted by STAR-Ghana Foundation and its allies, brought together civil society leaders, development partners, and international organisations for the launch of the CSSP Strategy.

The Minister stated that the unveiling of the CSSP Strategy was more than just a formal presentation, characterizing the event as a significant step toward rethinking civil society’s role in development.

She emphasized that it signifies a renewed regional commitment to bolstering local leadership, fostering organizational resilience, and expanding collaborations among Ghana, Zambia, and Malawi.

Highlighting the crucial role of civil society in Ghana’s social development initiatives, she highlighted that effective delivery of women, children and social protection mandates requires on strong partnership with CSOs.

She applauded the sector for amplifying the voices of women and children, encouraging accountability, improving community institutions, and generating evidence that informs national policies and activities.

The Minister added that the Ministry still places a high priority on platforms that unite the government and civil society in order to influence policy and address new problems that impact disadvantaged populations.

She thanked STAR Ghana Foundation and its partners for their major investments in organisational growth, collaborations and capacity improvement, characterizing their contributions as crucial to Ghana’s advancement.

The Minister used the occasion to emphasize the necessity of ongoing advocacy and community-led action in the national HIV response because it fell on World AIDS Day.

She asked all stakeholders to assist minimize new infections and to guarantee that every person, especially disadvantaged populations, can obtain treatment and social support without stigma or hurdles.
