Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the late Minister of Defence, will have his final funeral rites on Saturday, December 13, 2025. According to a notice from the Presidency, “the ceremony will begin at 12 noon at Jackson’s Park in Koforidua.”

Dr. Omane Boamah, the former Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), died in a military helicopter crash in August 2024 in Sikaman, near Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

He was one of eight individuals killed on board a Harbin Z-9EH military helicopter (tail number GHF 631), operated by the Ghana Air Force, when it crashed while flying from Accra to Obuasi.

Former Defense Minister Dr. Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed Limuna, National Democratic Congress Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and three Ghana Air Force crew members were among the victims.
