Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister of the Interior, attended the 2025 end-of-year West African Social Activities (WASSA) with His Excellency John Dramani Mahama at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Headquarters in Burma Camp.

President Mahama gave the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) a fleet of vehicles and launched a major accommodation renovation project during the event, which was a major step towards enhancing military personnel welfare, updating barracks infrastructure, and boosting troops’ operational capacity and mobility.

President Mahama underlined in his speech the government’s dedication to the preparedness and well-being of the armed forces.

The President stated that the initiative is part of a larger barracks regeneration strategy that will replace existing low-rise structures with modern high-rise residential buildings, thereby optimising land use within the camp and improving living conditions for service members and their families.

President Mahama thanked the GAF leadership for their dedication and the WASSA 2025 project organisers for encouraging personnel camaraderie and morale.

The President reassured them of the government’s ongoing support and commitment to retooling the GAF.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Finance Minister and Acting Defence Minister, was also in attendance, as was Major General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff, and senior military and security authorities.
