Plans to build a 12-unit classroom block for Labone Senior High School and emergency girls’ dormitories for the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) have been announced by the government through the Ministry of Education.
The two institutions’ recent fire outbreaks, which forced students to relocate to the Northern Region and Greater Accra and interfered with academic operations, prompted the action.
The Ministry of Education claims that the action demonstrates the government’s dedication to guaranteeing student safety and the continuation of instruction.

“The Government is deeply concerned about the impact of these unfortunate incidents on students and school communities. These emergency infrastructure projects are intended to restore safe, secure, and conducive learning environments as quickly as possible,” the Minister stated.
The Ministry also reassured the public, staff, parents, and students that steps are being taken to expedite the repair process while bolstering safety regulations to avert similar incidents in the future.
Hashmin Mohammed, the Honourable Minister’s press secretary, adding, “We are working closely with relevant agencies to ensure that the new facilities meet improved safety requirements and are completed within the shortest possible time.”
The government reiterated its larger commitment to protecting students’ welfare and bolstering the country’s educational infrastructure, especially during emergencies.
