The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) would like to notify the public that Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Morris Addae, a member of its task force, has made a full recovery after being shot in the thigh during an anti-galamsey operation earlier this year.

Recall that during an operation along the Subinkurom—Kyeremasu stretch in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, unidentified attackers opened fire on NAIMOS, resulting in L/Cpl Addae being shot.

He was sent to St. Matthew Catholic Hospital in Ampenkuro immediately after the incident, where he received timely medical care.

L/Cpl Addae is now in good health following weeks of critical treatment and rehabilitation, and he is getting ready to return to his fellow soldiers to carry on the government’s opposition to illegal mining.

L/Cpl Addae thanked the NAIMOS leadership, the sector minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), and all well-wishers for their support throughout his recuperation during a visit on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Colonel Dominic Buah, the NAIMOS Director of Operations, who headed the group, wished him well and praised his bravery and commitment to duty.

In accordance with President John Dramani Mahama’s mission to combat illegal mining, NAIMOS is steadfast in its mandate and will carry out all of its regular operations.
