Ghana’s security services will increase its recruiting, according to proposals suggested by President John Dramani Mahama.
The President stated that the existing recruitment target of 20,000 men and women should be raised to 40,000 over the next four years during a high-level discussion with the heads of security agencies, the Interior Minister, and the Acting Defence Minister.
“We must strengthen our security services, and this means increasing the number of personnel while ensuring the recruitment process is completely transparent and fair.” stated President Mahama during the briefing.
“The President is clear that every step of this process must be accountable. Citizens should have confidence in how these recruitments are conducted.” the President’s spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated.
The Chief of Staff, Secretary to the President, National Security Coordinator, Inspector General of Police, Director Generals of Prisons, Fire Service, Immigration Service, and the Narcotics Control Commission were among the important officials in attendance.
