All junior high school graduates who passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will start reporting to Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide on September 18, 2026, according to a statement from the Ghana Education Service (GES).
In a statement released on Thursday, May 14, the Service reminded parents and guardians that sufficient preparations had been done to guarantee a seamless transition into senior secondary education and thanked pupils for passing the exam.
GES states that plans have been made to supply the facilities, infrastructure, and administrative assistance required to accept all new students across the country.
“All qualified candidates will be placed in schools. Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high and technical education,” according to the statement.
Additionally, the Service rejected recent media reports that suggested that 72,000 students might not be placed, calling the assertions hypothetical and advising the public to ignore them.
GES additionally reassured stakeholders that pupils starting senior high school would still have access to education despite efforts to phase out the double-track system.
Instead, it stated that the current changes are meant to raise the standard of instruction and learning while preserving equitable access for all eligible students.
GES reiterated its dedication to ensuring that every Ghanaian kid receives a fair, inclusive, and high-quality education and urged parents, educators, and legislators to keep supporting the nation’s educational objectives.
