Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been given permission by the Accra High Court to travel to the UK to complete a master’s program.

Justice Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit presided over the court, which granted his attorneys’ request for the temporary release of his passport so he could participate in the program.

However, in accordance with the terms of his bail, the court ordered Abronye DC to return to Ghana by June 30, 2026, and to re-deposit his passport at the court registry.

At the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, Abronye DC is enrolled in a master’s degree.

The most recent decision comes after Abronye DC was re-arrested and remanded by the court earlier this month for violating a bail requirement that required him to deposit his passport at the court registry.

On June 4, 2026, his lawyers’ request to waive the passport surrender requirement in order to expedite his vacation plans took a different turn after the court found that he had failed to deposit the passport as required.

His remand was so mandated by Justice El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit.

On June 8, however, the court registrar verified that Abronye DC had deposited the passport on June 5 in accordance with the order.

After that confirmation, the court reinstated his bail conditions and warned that any more violations would result in his release being revoked.

On May 13, 2026, Abronye DC was remanded into the National Intelligence Bureau’s (NIB) custody following his arraignment before an Accra Circuit Court about remarks he reportedly made regarding a judge seated at the Adenta Circuit Court.

According to Section 207(1) of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29), Abronye DC is accused of one count of offensive behaviour contributing to the breach of the peace.

He allegedly made derogatory comments in April of this year, calling a judge at the Adenta Circuit Court “not a judge but rather a politician” and said that the judge had “covered your hair with a sack and claim you are a judge,” according to court documents.

Additionally, he is accused of publishing false information in violation of Section 208(1) of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29).

The 44-year-old allegedly made false statements about a “political judge” in a video that went viral on social media, which the prosecution maintains was intended to incite fear and panic and disrupt public order.

He has entered a not guilty plea to every accusation.
