The alleged constituency executive elections held in three seats have been declared void by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which cited infractions of party rules, regulations, and, where relevant, ongoing court orders.

The party said in a statement dated July 15, 2026, that the National Steering Committee made the decision after reviewing the constituency executive elections that were conducted nationwide over the weekend.

The statement names Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East, and Adansi Asokwa as the impacted constituencies.

The party clarified that party directions, the regulations governing the 2026 Constituency Executive polls, and any applicable court decisions were all blatantly disregarded during the polls in these areas.

Additionally, the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee has been called by the National Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to explain the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the impacted constituencies.

The committee has also submitted all unresolved constituency election disputes and election-related matters in Asante Akyem Central to the National Council’s Electoral Affairs Committee for advice and recommendations.

The referral, according to the party, is meant to guarantee that all unresolved election problems are resolved through the proper internal procedures prior to any further decisions being made.

The NPP reiterated its dedication to maintaining the rule of law and making sure that its rules and constitution are strictly followed. It emphasised that the actions are intended to maintain the party’s internal democratic procedures’ honesty, legitimacy, and openness.

General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey signed the statement together.
