Nigerian defence technology company Terra Industries has secured an additional $18 million in funding, bringing its total capital raised to $52 million as the company accelerates its international expansion.
The latest investment is expected to support Terra Industries’ plans to establish a major drone manufacturing facility in Accra, Ghana, while also opening its first international office in London.
Terra Industries Plans Major Drone Factory in Accra
The proposed Ghana facility is expected to significantly increase Terra Industries’ production capacity as the company expands its presence in Africa’s growing defence technology and advanced manufacturing sector.
Terra is targeting production of as many as 50,000 aerial systems annually by 2028, positioning the company for a major expansion in the African drone technology market.
The planned factory in Accra could make Ghana an important location for the production and development of advanced aerial systems on the continent.
$52 Million Funding Boosts Terra’s Expansion
With the latest $18 million investment, Terra Industries has now raised a total of $52 million.
The funding will support the company’s efforts to scale manufacturing, develop advanced technology and establish operations outside Nigeria.
Its planned London office will also provide the company with an international base as it seeks to expand its global partnerships and reach new markets.

Boost for Africa’s Technology and Manufacturing Sector
Terra Industries’ planned investment in Ghana represents a significant development for Africa’s technology sector, particularly in advanced manufacturing, drones and defence technology.
The expansion highlights the growing ability of African technology companies to develop locally designed and manufactured high-tech systems rather than relying entirely on imported technologies.
The planned drone factory could also create opportunities for technology jobs, engineering skills development, manufacturing and innovation in Ghana.
Ghana Emerging as a Technology Manufacturing Hub
Terra’s decision to establish its production facility in Accra could further strengthen Ghana’s position as an emerging hub for technology, innovation and advanced manufacturing in West Africa.
If the company’s production target is achieved, the facility could become one of the continent’s notable centres for aerial systems manufacturing.
The expansion ultimately reflects a broader trend across Africa, where technology companies are increasingly investing in sophisticated products and seeking to build the continent’s capacity to design, develop and manufacture high-tech systems locally.
