Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has continued his engagements with key professional groups as part of efforts to gather expert views and ideas for shaping policies aimed at addressing Ghana’s development challenges.
Dr. Bawumia and members of his policy team held a productive meeting with the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), where they discussed practical and innovative solutions to some of the country’s major economic and infrastructure challenges.
The discussions focused on critical areas including urban transport, infrastructure development, public procurement and value for money, among other issues affecting Ghana’s development.
The engagement forms part of Dr. Bawumia’s broader consultations with identifiable groups, professionals and stakeholders as his policy team considers strategies to address key challenges facing the country.
According to the team, the expertise of engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals is essential to Ghana’s long-term development. Their technical knowledge and practical experience can help policymakers develop more effective and sustainable solutions.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of incorporating professional expertise into national policy formulation, particularly in areas such as infrastructure planning, public transportation, government procurement and efficient use of public resources.
Dr. Bawumia expressed appreciation to the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, the President-Elect, the Vice-President and other members of the institution who participated in the meeting and contributed their ideas.
