National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has highlighted his 18-year working relationship with the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as he campaigns for the NPP National Chairman position.
John Boadu said his long-standing relationship with Dr. Bawumia demonstrates that he has the experience, trust and working understanding required to collaborate effectively with the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 general election.
John Boadu and Bawumia’s Political Partnership
According to the former NPP General Secretary, his relationship with Dr. Bawumia dates back to 2008, when Bawumia was first selected as the running mate to then NPP presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
John Boadu revealed that he served as Dr. Bawumia’s first spokesperson during that period.
He recalled travelling across Ghana with Dr. Bawumia to introduce him to NPP supporters and engage party members across the country.
The engagements also included interactions with students and young patriots on tertiary campuses as the party prepared for the 2008 presidential election.

In a Facebook post as the NPP national elections campaign gathers momentum, John Boadu said he does not need to convince party members that he can work effectively with Dr. Bawumia.
He explained that their relationship was established long before the current internal NPP leadership contest and has developed through years of political cooperation and party service.
John Boadu described the relationship as one built on trust, loyalty, shared responsibility and commitment to the NPP.
He stressed that his political partnership with Dr. Bawumia is not based on current political circumstances but on nearly two decades of working together.

John Boadu also pointed to his extensive experience in NPP party affairs as a major strength in his campaign for National Chairman.
He said his knowledge of the party’s history, combined with his years of service and political experience, places him in a strong position to lead the party through its rebuilding process.
