Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, has once again made history after winning the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), extending its record as the most successful school in the competition’s history.
The PRESEC Legon Odadeɛ boys emerged victorious at the grand finale held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the UG Premier Domes in Accra, finishing the highly competitive contest with 40 points.
The NSMQ 2026 grand finale featured a thrilling battle among three of Ghana’s leading senior high schools. Accra Academy, making its first-ever appearance in the NSMQ grand finale, secured second place with 33 points.
St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO) finished third after accumulating 27 points in the keenly contested competition.
PRESEC Legon’s latest triumph further strengthens its dominance in the National Science and Maths Quiz, as the school becomes the first institution to win the prestigious academic competition nine times.
The Legon-based school previously lifted the NSMQ trophy in 1995, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2020, 2022, and 2023, before adding another championship in 2026.
The NSMQ 2026 grand finale was organised by Primetime Limited with support from the Ghana Education Service (GES), GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance and other partners.
Following the historic victory, students, old boys and supporters of PRESEC Legon erupted in celebration across the country. Social media platforms were also flooded with congratulatory messages as fans celebrated the school’s record-extending ninth NSMQ championship.
