The Ministry of Education’s inability to come to an agreement with the several striking unions in Ghana’s educational sector has alarmed the nation’s main student body, the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).
The continuous strikes by the teacher and worker unions, according to NUGS, have “nearly brought tertiary education in Ghana to a halt.”
The Ministry of Education’s ongoing inability to come to an agreement with the unions that are on strike is contributing to the increasing unrest and annoyance among students and the entire educational system.

According to a statement dated December 7, 2022 and signed by Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo, president of NUGS, “There are currently five Educational workers unions throughout all the public Universities and all Colleges of Education who are on strike.”
“These mass strikes have severe consequences, affecting significant academic and administrative functions like teaching, grading, transcript release, admissions procedures, and graduation procedures,” it stated.
