The Speaker has received a formal petition from the Minority Caucus in Parliament expressing concerns about the Ad-Hoc Committee’s continued chairmanship.
The caucus’s concerns were emphasized in a memo sent to the Speaker by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who called for an unbiased, fair, and credible procedure.
Until the Speaker addresses their concerns, the Minority said, they would not participate in the committee’s work any more.
But the leader of the minority made it clear that this position should be seen as a commitment to due process rather than a refusal to take part.
“We trust that the Speaker will address these concerns in a manner that upholds the integrity of the Committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament,” the Minority Leader said.
