Robert Kwabena Boamah, 34, has been taken into custody by the Ashanti Regional Police Command in relation to the horrific killing of a young woman in the Kwadaso Municipality’s Dominase.
After prompt police investigations, the culprit was captured on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his hideout in Namong, close to Offinso.
The arrest follows a distress call from residents of the Tanoso Electoral Area on Monday, April 21, 2025, reporting the discovery of a female body near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex at Dominase, according to a police statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The body of a young woman, later identified by her family as Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena, age 23, was discovered dead by a team of officers sent to the area.
“The body was discovered with multiple stab wounds at the scene. Police also found an abandoned Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 8575-Y, with its ignition key still in place.”
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime. He appeared physically weak at the time of arrest, and further questioning uncovered that he had attempted to take his own life by ingesting weedicide,” the statement said.
“We remain resolute in our fight against crime and call on residents to support us with timely information to help maintain law and order in the region,” the statement concluded.
Robert Kwabena Boamah was identified as the owner of the vehicle following preliminary inquiries. He was later apprehended after being located at his hiding place.
According to the police, Boamah was taken to the Abuakwa Polyclinic for emergency care and was later released.
While preparations are being made to arraign him in court, the suspect is presently being held by the police.
