Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to forming solid alliances with pertinent parties in order to guarantee the ethical and open administration of Ghana’s natural resources.

When a delegation from the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), led by Madam Suneeta Kaimal, the organization’s president and chief executive officer, paid him a courtesy call on Monday, August 26, 2025, he provided this promise.

Madam Nafi Chico Quashie, the Director of Africa, and other officials were part of the trip.

Although the government encourages investment in the industry, Hon. Buah clarified that making sure that such operations are carried out responsibly is the biggest obstacle.

He stated that the Ministry’s reform program places a strong emphasis on openness and cooperation with important institutions.

He also emphasized the government’s flagship “Tree for Life” initiative, which aims to restore 5,500 hectares of degraded forest, and the continued work being done with the Forestry Commission.

“It is not an easy task, but we are determined to restore these areas and make them green again,” he added.

Hon. Buah revealed that the Ministry had just started the Blue Water Guards initiative and had finished a number of water management initiatives with regard to water resources.

This year, the initiative hopes to enlist 2,000 volunteers to support river body conservation.

In addition to praising the Minister for his leadership, NRGI President and CEO Madam Suneeta Kaimal promised the institute’s help in advancing responsible resource management in Ghana and fortifying reforms.

“The mission of the institute is based on the fact that decisions regarding the governance of natural resources have a significant impact on the well-being of people,” she continued.
