Daniel Cudjoe, also known as Ato Asare, was arrested by the Western Central Regional Police Command on September 28, 2025, after two opposing gangs engaged in a violent altercation at Simpa, close to the Simpa Sawmill in the Nsuaem District.

Cudjoe’s group and another group called Dadwen, commanded by arrested suspects Alhassan and Abolo, were involved in the altercation, according to the police.

Emmanuel Cudjoe, the suspect’s 23-year-old brother, was killed when the altercation turned into a gunball fight.

In a statement, the police said, “Preliminary investigations show that suspect Daniel Cudjoe, alias Ato Asare, along with his deceased brother Emmanuel Cudjoe and ten others currently at large, confronted the Dadwen group after learning that they had destroyed his mining equipment.”

From the scene, police recovered four motorcycles, a tricycle, three machetes, two pump-action rifles, and regalia.

“The Police Command assures the general public that investigations are ongoing to arrest all persons involved to face the full rigours of the law,” said Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
