Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Ghana’s finance minister, has emphasised the enormous potential of the oil palm sector to improve rural livelihoods and generate thousands of long-term jobs.
Dr. Forson praised the management, smallholder farmers, and employees of the Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) at Adum Abanso in the Western Region for their diligence and contribution to Ghana’s industrial and agricultural development during a working visit.
He cited BOPP as an excellent illustration of how focused investment in profitable crops, like as oil palm, may lead to widespread employment and inclusive growth.

According to Dr. Forson, “Benso Oil Palm Plantation is a perfect example of how strategic investment in oil palm can create thousands of jobs and transform lives.”
“The dedication and professionalism I witnessed here give me great confidence that renewed investment in this sector is worth every effort.”
The government is finalising a complete Oil Palm Plantation Policy with the goal of increasing production, fortifying value chains, and generating thousands of new employment across the country, according to the Finance Minister.
He commended BOPP’s inclusive business strategy, which incorporates smallholder farmers into its value chain, pointing out that it perfectly fits the government’s objective of agriculture as the cornerstone of Ghana’s next economic expansion and employment creation.
