Reports of attacks on fishing vessels in Ghana’s Central Region have been verified by the Ghana Armed Forces.
According to a GAF statement, a search and rescue operation is presently underway miles off the coast of Senya Breku.
GAF encouraged composure as they attempt to rescue the victims, who are Ghanaian fishermen.
Armed men attacked at sea and stole outboard motors, generators, and valuables, leaving more than fifty fisherman stranded off Senya Bereku in Ghana’s Central Region.
According to reports, the attack happened on Thursday, February 26, during a nighttime fishing trip. The attackers, who were allegedly using a black boat, broke into the fishing grounds while it was dark.
The intruders overpowered the fisherman, held them at gunpoint, and fired several warning shots before removing their gear.
