The Government of Ghana has paid GH¢10.82 billion to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), fulfilling its latest coupon payment obligation in full and on schedule.

According to the government, a total of GH¢10,816,840,318.26 was paid to bondholders on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, as part of Ghana’s ongoing domestic debt restructuring programme.

The latest payment represents the third DDEP coupon payment made entirely in cash. Government said the payment demonstrates its commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline and meeting its debt obligations as scheduled.

Since 2025, the government has paid a cumulative GH¢144.36 billion to bondholders, reflecting continued efforts to implement the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme and restore confidence in Ghana’s financial sector.

The government said the timely settlement of the DDEP coupon is expected to strengthen investor confidence, reduce sovereign default risk and improve Ghana’s financial credibility.

Government has further assured bondholders, investors and the general public that future obligations under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme will continue to be paid fully and on schedule.

The latest DDEP payment comes as Ghana continues to pursue measures aimed at improving public debt management, fiscal stability and economic recovery.
