At Yaw Anane, a rural community in the Bia West District of the Western North Region, a man in his late forties is said to have killed his landlord.
The deceased and the suspect are both farmers, however the deceased, named as Kwasi Antoh, 60, owned the farm while the suspect, Yaw Wotoro, was the farm keeper, according to Assembly Member for Nafana Electoral Area Augustine Boah.
The Assembly Member confirmed the tragic incident to Adom News, saying that the farm’s owner, Kwasi Antoh, visited his farm and was unhappy with how it was being run. He bemoaned the lack of weed control on the farm as well as the neglect of other farm chores like pruning.
According to reports, the dead complained vehemently, which did not sit well with the farm manager.
Unverified rumors had also claimed that the landlord had been “chasing” the farmkeeper’s daughter, who was 19 years old, through the hamlet.
At the back of his home, the suspect, Yaw Wotoro, is accused of using a cutlass to slash his landlord’s neck before fleeing.
However, he was captured by neighborhood residents and turned over to the police.
“The body is at the police station in Akatiso. We are awaiting the commander and his squad to come. The news is really upsetting. I’ve served in the assembly for two terms in a row, and I’ve never heard of such an incidence,” he claimed.
The assemblyman urged locals to report people who behave in a way that raises suspicion and may result in such incidents.
“I’ll advise everyone to report those acting suspiciously to the assemblyman, the assembly committee, or the recently constructed Bia police station. Failure to do so could lead to a horrific event like this one day, he cautioned.
