Interior Minister Urges Police Commanders to Strengthen Professionalism and Accountability

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Regional Police Commanders to strengthen professionalism, accountability and effective leadership within the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking at the Police Regional Commanders Conference at the National Police Headquarters, the Interior Minister said the growing expectations of Ghanaians require a more professional, responsive and accountable police service.

He stressed the need for the Ghana Police Service to remain visible, approachable, competent and committed to preventing crime and protecting lives and property across the country.

According to the Minister, police leadership must work towards building public confidence in law enforcement by ensuring that officers perform their duties with integrity, fairness and professionalism.

He urged Regional Commanders to promote a policing system that protects vulnerable members of society, holds offenders accountable and safeguards innocent citizens.

The Minister also emphasised the importance of strong leadership and accountability in improving police operations and strengthening public trust in the Ghana Police Service.

He encouraged the police leadership to maintain high ethical standards while adopting effective strategies to address emerging security challenges and meet the expectations of the Ghanaian public.
