Kwabena Agyepong, who previously served as the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially submitted his nomination forms, making him the first candidate to do so for the party’s flagbearer position in the upcoming 2028 general election.
As Dr. Agyepong visited the party office in Accra to submit his application on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, he was inundated by supporters and well-wishers.
The NPP has established a definitive timeframe for flagbearer filings, with the official opening on July 29, 2025, and closing on August 28.
The party leadership has set the date of January 31, 2026, for its presidential primaries to select a flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
The NPP has announced the addition of new categories of party officials and dignitaries to the voter register for the upcoming Presidential Primary set for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The action aligns with a motion passed at the National Annual Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, and complies with Article 13(1)(11) of the NPP Constitution, as detailed in a circular issued by the Party’s Headquarters on August 26, 2025. The circular was signed by Mr. William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee.
