President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to deliver Ghana’s official national statement at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 2026) in New York on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
The Ghanaian President departed Accra on Friday night for New York to participate in the high-level United Nations gathering, where world leaders and government representatives will discuss major global issues and international cooperation.
The 81st UN General Assembly is being held under the theme, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations that Delivers for All.”
President Mahama’s participation is expected to provide an opportunity for Ghana to highlight its priorities on international relations, global development, peace and security, economic cooperation and multilateral diplomacy.
The General Debate brings together leaders from UN member states to present their countries’ positions on pressing global challenges and outline their priorities for international cooperation.
Ghana’s participation in UNGA 2026 forms part of the country’s engagement with the international community and its efforts to contribute to discussions on issues affecting Africa and the wider global community.
