Samuel George, the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, is scheduled to speak to the media today, Monday, September 29, 2025, regarding the dispute with DStv’s operators, MultiChoice Ghana, regarding the lowering of subscription costs.
This comes after the Minister ordered the National Communications Authority (NCA), the regulator, to form a stakeholder committee to assess DStv’s prices in Ghana.
It is anticipated that the committee will deliver its report on Monday, September 29, 2025.
The committee, which started working on September 8, 2025, was tasked with creating a common understanding of DStv pricing in Ghana and suggesting workable and acceptable solutions to the issues brought up by Samuel George, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation.
It was also entrusted with creating a plan to stop DStv decoder and service piracy from Nigeria into Ghana.
The Minister will give the briefing’s recommendations from the committee that examined DStv’s pricing strategy and suggested business-wise solutions that the government and the corporation could agree upon.
The meeting aims to provide light on the situation, which has been tense due to the Minister’s frequent threats of suspension and DStv’s resistance to calls for price cuts.
