The Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare (MP), Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, took part in a high-level panel discussion with other ministers on the fringes of the preparations for the 14th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC14). She emphasised the growing significance of services trade in propelling economic transformation.

The Minister emphasised the growing role of industries like fintech, professional services, and other digitally enabled sectors in fostering resilience, job creation, and economic diversity, especially for young people.

She pointed out that digital innovation offers major prospects for emerging economies and stressed that services trade is increasingly becoming a key engine of inclusive and sustainable growth.

Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to utilising services trade under frameworks like the African Continental Free Trade Area during the discussion, which took place on the eve of MC14 and gave ministers a forum to share ideas on bolstering the multilateral trading system to produce significant development outcomes.
