The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, the assistant headmaster of KNUST Senior High School in charge of academics, for reportedly fondling a female pupil.

The videotaped event, which shows the troubled assistant headteacher in a precarious scenario with the adolescent, has subsequently gone viral on social media.

In a statement released on Monday, September 29, 2025, GES Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi stated that the event is taken very seriously and that Mr. Aidoo has been prohibited from entering the school grounds while enquiries are conducted.

“Management views this matter with utmost seriousness. In line with our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession and ensuring the safety and welfare of students under our care, Mr. Aidoo has already been removed from office and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out,” he stated.

He went on to say that proper disciplinary action will be taken in compliance with the Ghana Education Service’s code of conduct.

Daniel Fenyi also gave parents, students, stakeholders, and the general public the assurance that the GES code of conduct would be adhered to in any disciplinary action and that due process would be followed.

“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students,” the statement said.

He stressed that the Service is still dedicated to safeguarding the security and welfare of students nationwide.
