A man has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for allegedly physically abusing a woman in Ofankor, Ga East Municipality, in a widely shared Facebook video.
On Monday, November 17, 2025, the culprit, John Odartey Lamptey, was apprehended at his family home after the video went viral and caused a great deal of public indignation.
Two of Lamptey’s siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, were also taken into custody, according to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the CID’s public relations officer.
According to reports, the siblings tried to assault a female renter who they believed was filming and disseminating the footage. To protect the tenant’s safety, police acted quickly and saved her.
The victim, who left the house just before the police arrived, is being sought after.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its dedication to safeguarding victims of domestic abuse and making sure that those who commit these crimes face the full force of the law.
