An astounding twenty independent contenders for the presidency have formally submitted their nominations to compete in the elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
These candidates contend that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who have controlled Ghana’s political scene for the previous 32 years, have been steering the country in the wrong way, which is why they decided to run.
The Movement for Change’s leader, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, Mr. George Twum-Barima-Adu, Mr. Samuel Apea-Danquah, Nana Kwame Bediako, Jacob Osei Yeboah, Richard Sumah, Kofi Koranteng, Desmond Abrefa, Dr. Agnes Ayisha, Dr. Nii Amu Darko, Wilberforce Andrews, Nana Stephens, Rev. Samuel Worlanyo, Amenya TK, Rober Roy Reindof, Paul Perkah, and Seth Ntin Agarko are among the independent candidates who have submitted their nominations to the Electoral Commission (EC).
Sam Ankrah, Janet Asana Nabla, and Steven Atubigah are the other contenders.
Ghanaians should get ready for a drawn-out ballot in the elections on December 7th, according to Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Electoral Commission’s Director of Training, who made this observation in an interview.
He emphasized that 12 political parties have already filed their nomination forms, in addition to the 20 independent candidates.
