In accordance with the 1992 Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has submitted the names of eight prominent lawyers and twelve Justices of the High Court to the Judicial Council for appointment to the Court of Appeal.

Charles Zwennes of the prestigious Gaisie, Zwennes and Hughes law practice and Yaw Oppong, the director of the Ghana School of Law, are two of these well-known attorneys.

Dr. Poku-Adusei, a legal scholar who has spent a major chunk of his teaching career at the University of Ghana Law Faculty, is also listed.

In addition, he serves as the National Communications Authority’s (NCA) Director of Legal Affairs.

Ms. Mariam Agyeman Gyasi Jawhary of Totoe Legal Service, a law practice with branches in Accra and Kumasi, is one of the exceptional attorneys recommended for the Court of Appeal.

Furthermore, the President has taken notice of Ms. Yaa Onyameye Gyakobo, a member of the Deputy National Executive Committee, who helps the distinguished Gyau Baffour with secretarial work for the Bar Association’s Executive Committee.

On this list of non-judges are six very accomplished women who have been suggested for the Court of Appeal Bench.

Thanks to his extraordinary legal writing abilities and command of court procedures, Justice Alexander Osei Tutu has made a name for himself.

These suggested candidates will strengthen the Court of Appeal’s current membership and improve the effectiveness of its sessions held outside of Greater Accra.

After considering these nominations, the Judicial Council will choose whether or not to recommend them for appointment to the Court of Appeal.
